Sir, – It is interesting to learn that Mrs Simper of Carperby is refused permission for solar panels (D&S, Sept 12) and yet Tan Hill Inn, which must be a listed building, is able to have solar panels. Why such irregularities in planning?
If Peter Watson, the national park’s head of planning, calls the panels a “jarring feature”, then what does he call the headquarters of the national park at Bainbridge, plus the flats. They certainly are jarring by any standards.
