Sir, – In response to A Middle Way (D&S, Sept 26), I wonder if Yarm taxpayers will be pleased to know that council time and resources are to be spent finding a way not to enforce a law – I repeat, what is the point of such a law?
I might also ask what is the point of democracy, with equal rights and privileges for all, when Yarm Town Council holds a closed meeting to discuss tarmacing over the Brickyard allotments, which have been used as such for about 100 years I understand, and turning them into a car park. I wonder what there is to keep hidden from the people that they were elected to represent?
So much for Conservative councillors upholding the Conservative party’s so-called green policies.
The Environment Agency’s advice is not to pave over our front gardens because of the risk of increased flooding.
We should be encouraging people to use public transport more to cut down on increasing traffic levels, a continuing problem in Yarm.
C CHAMBERS Miller Close, Yarm.
