Sir, – I feel a correction of Brian S Lees comments is due (D&S letters, April 24) regarding the meeting of the Osmotherley Village Hall committee with the Osmotherley Community Trust, and the rumoured plan to turn the present hall into residential flats.
Far from a meeting having been held to seriously discuss the proposal, in reality it was held, at the request of Coun Tim Swales, as a courtesy to inform the committee of the potential proposals and their relation to the village hall. At no point was an opinion sought or offered on the proposals, and at no point has any discussion taken place on this subject at any other committee meeting.
We would be happy to pass on a copy of the minutes of the meeting to Mr Lee, or any other interested parties. They are in fact already on display on the noticeboard outside the hall.
We are always happy to have more people involved in the running of the hall, and always strive to provide open and honest information rather than propagate unfounded rumours as some seem keen to.
DAVE MORRIS Chairman, Osmotherley Village Hall Committee.
