Sir, – Nothing could be more important for Yarm than for all its residents to have an upgraded, central, medical centre, which would reduce the need to go to the main hospital, and be easily accessible to all, especially with the proposal to move North Tees Hospital further away from Yarm into the inaccessible wilds of Wynyard.

But the proposals have been stalled for years by the Consevative Party which controls Yarm Parish Council and the Stockton borough representatives.

However, the “rookie” parish council chairman seems to be getting most of the blame for the delay.

It must be time to solve the problem before the credit crunch stops the money allocated for Yarm. The ideal solution would be to develop Gwen Porter’s old house next door.

With Gwen being a long-time servant to Yarm, it would also be a fitting tribute to her position in Yarm life.

No more delays – let’s solve it immediately, and let the public benefit now.
