Sir, – We are already being bombarded with information, not all credible, by numerous would-be parliamentarians.
Some questions for a prospective candidates for this area might include:
● Would you be willing to oppose your party whip in the interests of your constituents?
● What is your view on greater integration into Europe?
● Do you believe Britain should join the common currency?
● Will you work to improve the front-line delivery of the NHS, as distinct from the growing volume of administration?
● Will you work for the equality of treatment of older patients in the NHS?
Will you work to eliminate regressive taxes (taxes which treat high earners more generously than low earners), such as National Insurance and pension contribution relief?
● Overall, the economy is in a mess. Specifically, which taxes will you raise, and which services will you cut?
● What is your view on the plan to move Eaglescliffe School to Preston Park?
● Will you work to close Yarm Bridge to heavy lorries, which are presently – and rather rapidly – shaking it apart, and to stop heavy lorries using Yarm as a throughway (Yarm main street is a traffic accident waiting to happen)?
PETER CHADWICK Seymour Grove, Eaglescliffe
