Sir, – The Labour candidate for Richmond really has no idea of where she is campaigning to represent.

For 18 years, our constituency received no support from the Tory governments, because we were a dead cert. For the last 13 years, this constituency has received no funding from Labour, because there was no hope of a swing to Labour.

Social housing is virtually non-existent, thanks to the Tory sell-off, which has been continued under Labour.

There are more than 1,500 applicants on the waiting list in Richmondshire alone – a Toryrun council – so for the whole constituency we are probably looking at more than 3,000 families needing affordable housing.

Thank you Labour – a good job done!

Ms Driver claims that Labour has supported rural services, including post offices. I’m sure that the residents of Low Row are feeling the full effects of that support, as their post office closes down. Ask the residents of Richmond, Catterick Garrison and Croft if they feel supported?

Labour has continued the Tory policies of running down all local services in rural areas.

Buses are becoming almost museum items in many of our communities. Labour cuts the funding and the Tories, on the county council, cut the buses.

Sorry Ms Driver, but one stunt of a bus trip doesn’t prove that Labour has worked for rural areas.

Knock on a few thousand doors in towns and villages around the constituency, as we Liberal Democrats have done, and you’ll soon realise the utter uselessness of Labour governments, who’ve simply copied the equally useless Tory ones.
