Sir, – In the report of Gilling West parish meeting, Coun Hesletine is in favour of a flashing matrix to control the traffic through the village. The same councillor told Skeeby parish that flashing matrix signs were ineffective and that there was no way Skeeby was going to get rid of the horrific bumps.
The reason that Gilling West has a traffic problem – and the councillor was told this – is because cars divert away from Skeeby and its bumps through Gilling and they speed up to make up lost time.
If the matrix signs were placed in Skeeby, less traffic would travel through Gilling. All it needs is for Coun Hesletine to admit he was wrong.
The new lower-profile bump has brought its own problems.
Cars find it easier so speed up to 20mph or 25mph and then the next bump is the old type and the car is bounced about and is dangerous.
Keep up the good work Coun Hesletine.
MICHAEL FENWICK Springfield, Skeeby.
