Sir, – I refer to your report about North Beck in Northallerton (D&S, Sept 30).
Although some people may also know it as Cod Beck, it is not the same Cod Beck as the Cod Beck of Thirsk in that North Beck neither flows to Thirsk or from Thirsk.
This is relevant to the people of Thirsk because if Hambleton District Council and other landowners do, or alternatively do not, clear the vegetation out of North Beck, as these main rivers are not connected, this will have no effect on Cod Beck in Thirsk whatsoever.
ALAN McKEE Northallerton Road, Brompton.
