Sir, – The latest edition of the Stokesley Lib Dems’ leaflet, bemoans the “Dashed hopes of the cycleway group” and its proposed cycle route from Ingleby Arncliffe to Swainby.
The group is now looking for a suitable route from Great Ayton to Stokesley and it has £150,000 to spend. The amount is held by Sustrans, to spend, so the leaflet says, in North Yorkshire.
Do we really need to spend so much money on cycle routes when the foundations of Stokesley High Street cobbles are in such a bad state of repair?
I think the local Lib Dems and the Tory district council need to have a rethink and, together with Sustrans, come up with a better way of spending money than on cycle routes.
