Sir, – I would like to comment on North Yorkshire County Council’s excellent service when Scorton bridge was washed away in the recent flooding. In less than a week it had reopened the road with a temporary crossing – credit to the engineers and manual workers who worked on it.
When the bridge is rebuilt let’s hope the arch will be enlarged to allow the water to pass through it and not back up as it has been doing.
