GUISBOROUGH RUFC consolidated their lead at the top of division two, where they have currently amassed 100 points, with a hard-fought 15-13 win away at Ryton on Saturday.
They are now 13 points clear of second-placed Hartlepool with a game in hand.
Guisborough considered themselves fortunate to come out of the game with the victory. Ryton's forwards dominated for most of the game, and successfully starved Guisborough of possession.
However, Guisborough tackled hard, and tries by Mike Henderson and Ben Wood kept them in the game until a late "tap and go" resulted in man of the match Ben Buckworth powering over the Ryton try line to cap an outstanding performance.
