The fifth race in the HDSRL took place on Thursday, June 23 at Skipton, and Richmond and Zetland Harriers’ Pauline Whittaker took on the 8km hilly route in the heat and finished 198th in 45m12s.
There was a good turnout of Juniors at the NEYDL at Shildon on Sunday, June 26 with good team spirit and support by all.
Tegan Smith (13G) raced the 100m in a time of 15.8s, 200m 33.3s, Long Jump 2.91m. Polly Spencer (13G) 800m in 2m53s, Shot Putt 3.04m, 100m 17.5s. Rhys Robinson (15B) 800m 2m24s, Javelin 9.44m. Eleanor Southworth (15G) 200m 31.7s, Shot Putt 6.69m, 300m 53.6s. Matilda Ellis (15G) 300m 49.7s, Long Jump 2.42m, 800m 2m35s. Phoebe Haw (15G) 1500m 5m53s, 200m 32.3s, Shot Putt 4.67m. Roscoe Waddington-Kelly (17M) 100m 12.9s, 200m 25.8s, 400m 62.2s.
Thomas Carter (17M) 800m 2m28s, Triple Jump 10.27m, 200m 27.8s. Ollie Middleton (17M) 1500m 4m55s (PB), Shot Putt 7.49m (1st place), 400m 67.2s and the 4 x 100m relay total time 53.9s. Sam Archer (17M) Discus 14.69m, 1500m 5m04s. Shannon Robinson (17W) 300m 47.4s, 800m 2m23s, Shot Putt 6.71m. Joseph Reeve (U20) had another strong run at the Trafford Grand Prix on Tuesday 28th June and finished 2nd in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4m05s.
Ken Harker finished 16th in the 3000m in 11mins. The following day Tom O’Mahoney (U20) raced in the 3000m at the North East Grand Prix Series at the Monkton Stadium in Jarrow. Tom had an amazing run to finish 2nd in 8m57s (PB).
The same evening at West Park in Darlington, father and daughter, Paul and Matilda Ellis competed in the 4th race of the Darlington 5k Trail series race. They both had great runs on the undulating, multi terrain course with Paul finishing 3rd in 19m54s and Matilda 8th and 2nd female in 23m10s.
Sunday, July 3 was the popular Run Harrogate 10k race. The route which starts and finishes at the show ground has some tough hills on the multi terrain course. Ian Hepworth took on the challenge and finished 328th overall and 2nd in his age category in 61m31s. On the same day over in the Lakes, John Gray encountered over 3000ft of elevation during the 9.6 mile of the Skiddaw Fell Race. John finished 48th in 1hr38m31s. A round-up of the parkruns and at Northallerton on June 25, Steve Middleton was the second finisher in 20m07s, Elaine Watters 26th in 25m10s closely followed by Pauline Whittaker 27th in 25m11s. At Darlington, Paul Simpson finished 30th in 20m40s, Peter Richardson 75th in 23m45s, Paul Wright 93rd in 24m38s, Colin Smith 135th in 27m02s and Diane Adkins 205th in 31m39s. Saturday 3rd July at Northallerton, Anthony Jefford finished 2nd overall in 19m05s, Ken Harker 4th in 19m25s, Elaine Watters 17th in 24m06s and Elly Robertson 44th in 28m57s.
At Darlington, Paul Ellis finished ninth in 18m51s, Henry Wright 25th in 20m28s, Paul Simpson 26th in 20m41s, Paul Wright 72nd in 23m50s, Colin Smith 134th in 27m09s, Ian Hepworth 177th in 29m15s and Diane Adkins 264th in 35m36s. While on holiday in Northumberland, Peter Richardson did the Druridge Bay Parkrun and finished 23rd in 24m31s. The following day at Northallerton Junior Parkrun, Ollie Middleton who is in great form smashed the previous course record by 30 seconds when he finished 1st in 6m32s.
