JOCKEY Chris Dawson was in double-winning form at the Bedale Point to Point held at Hornby Castle last Saturday.
Dawson won the opening confined hunts race on John Wade's Always Right (South Durham).
The pair led three from home and pulled clear for a very easy 20 lengths advantage at the line.
The Oliver Greenall-ridden North Island finished second, but was easily outpaced by the winner.
Dawson completed his double in the closing race, the second division of the maiden, on the Trevor Glass-trained Esme Rides A Gaine (J Wilson/Cleveland).
The seven-year-old took up the running three from home and gradually shook off the attentions of the favourite, Culbann, who was ridden by Mark Walford.
Judith Hodgson's Plutocrat (Bedale) won the ladies' open.
Ridden by Jo Foster, Plutocrat made good progress to lead three from home, but he was hard pressed by Misty Gem, who had been prominent throughout and battled back to lead at the second last.
Misty Gem was looking the likely winner when a blunder at the last saw the jockey unseated, leaving Plutocrat to come home by 20 lengths.
The customary Oliver Greenall winner came in the men's open on Eric Brooks' Choisty (Middleton).
Trained by David Easterby, Choisty tracked the leaders until cruising to the front three from home and going on to record a comfortable six-length win. Jupiter's Fancy, ridden by John Dawson, finished second after racing prominently.
There was a great finish to the restricted, which was won by Roger Marley's Wasntme (Derwent).
Ridden by Jacquline Coward, the five-year-old withstood the strong challenge of the Richard Smith-ridden Quinta De Lobo to win by a length in a race in which the first six were separated by only eight lengths.
There was also a good finish to the first division of the maiden, which brought a first win for jockey Charles Clarke.
His mount, Sukey Tawdray (Badsworth), made all the running and stayed on gamely to resist the challenge of the Joanna Mason-ridden Liverpool by one length.
In the members', the Ian Smith-ridden Out to Lunch (G Smith) pulled clear on the flat to beat Monte Cristo by two lengths.
● On Sunday, the Cleveland Point to Point takes place at Howe Hills, first race 1.30pm.
