RACING at Redcar has been given the going ahead today after heavy overnight rain led to a 7.30am inspection of the course.
However, two of the scheduled eight races have been abandoned due to standing water on the round course. The remaining six races are all on the straight course.
The meeting – Poppy Day Appeal – is the final fixture of Redcar’s 2022 season. The first race will now take place an hour later than planned at 1.20pm with the final race at 4.05pm.
Redcar’s general manager Amy Fair said: “We had 21mm of rainfall overnight and safety of horses and riders is clearly our number one priority. It’s a shame to lose two races on our final day of 2022 but with six races remaining on the card, there’s still plenty of action.”
