A season of ups and downs sees its finale in disappointment for the Darlington Storm B team, but with hope for the 2024/25 season.
What some may call an anticlimactic end in the defeat of the Play-off plate final, which ended in defeat to The Golden Smog Warriors Gold, the fact that the team got close to gaining silverware in a poorer season than expected, shows the ambition which the team has got.
Although suffering from availability issues due to personal reasons and injuries, The Storm B finished the season in 6th, with highlight wins over the Stockton Shadows and doing the double over the Teesside Lions.
Coach Leo Cassidy reflected on the season, hopeful for the next one
‘It has been a frustrating season for the team. We came into the season with a lot of optimism, but for various reasons things haven't worked out how we hoped. Injuries, availability issues and a few very strong rival teams have all made things difficult.
I am proud of the effort put in by the lads, and I'm proud that we kept our heads up and kept fighting all season. The lads have been a pleasure to coach.
A special mention has to go to Ben Emerson who captained the team and had several outstanding games, topping 30 points multiple times.
We will regroup, go back to the drawing board and have another crack at it next season’
Now, the team and coach will have a long summer, with much time to reflect and build a greater squad that hopefully will bring a piece of silverware home this time next year.
