Cleveland Wheelers Cycling Club held their annual climb, in conjunction with the Teesside District Hill Climb Championship & VTTA North Group Hill Climb Championship, at Clay Bank, near Great Broughton on Sunday.
A total of 29 riders faced the climb on a fine, but cool, morning. The course avoids the main road by using the minor road up from Ingleby Greenhow.
Most riders took more than four minutes to reach the finish line, at the top of a lung-busting final incline, and the first three-placed riders were amongst the last five starters.
The winner in three minutes and 17 seconds was Nick Munro, Outlands Cycling, followed closely by Elliot Holt, Fietsen Tempo, in 3.28. Third was Tom Harcourt, Team Judge Tyrekey, in 3.44.
The fastest female rider was Gemma Mitchell, Team Boompods, in 4.22, with Hannah Farran-Rees, also of Team Boompods, in second place at 4.46.
The junior winner was Lewis Maynard, Cleveland Wheelers CC, in 4.17, while the veterans over-60 prize was taken by Hilton Armstrong, Fietsen Tempo, in 4.38.
The prizes for the event were presented at the Village Hall, in Great Broughton, by Steven Tilley from Cleveland Wheelers CC.
