NETBALL players have risen to the challenge after competing successfully on the national stage.
The under-14 team from Barnard Castle School became the highest performing North-East squad in the contest staged in Brighton.
A 12-strong squad of year eight and nine players battled against tough opposition to secure two victories.
They lost two more games by just a single goal and another by two goals, making them the most successful North-East side.
Coach Jacquie Robson said: “They did really, really well.
It was difficult conditions playing outdoors on the freezing seafront.
“I expected them to be overawed by the occasion, but they weren’t and there was a tremendous team spirit that carried them through.
“They all played exceptionally well and really enjoyed themselves. Captain Thea Thompson and goal shooter Iona Borer were outstanding.
They are all really fired up for next year’s competition.”
