Northallerton Ladies’ new second team secured their first point of the season with a strong performance against Leeds University sixths on Saturday.

The young Northallerton side put the students under pressure in the early stages, and worked hard as a team to create chances.

Northallerton scored a deserved goal midway through the second half when Rebecca Roberts slotted the ball home after a well worked move on the right wing.

The goal brought Leeds to life and they equalised minutes later with a powerful strike.

Northallerton firsts saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end at Harrogate thirds.

Harrogate scored twice in the first 15 minutes and dominated the first half until Sally Hunt’s deflected shot briefly got Northallerton back into the match.

Sarah Hope was unlucky not to level the match when a shot was somehow sent over the bar by the diving Harrogate goalkeeper early in the second period.

Harrogate then took complete control of the game, scoring twice more to make the final score 4-1. Player of the match: Lisa Dennison.
