Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Premier League

Marton made it three wins in a row, with a home win over current champions Richmondshire, by five wickets. They lead the table on runs per wickets ahead of Billingham Synthonia, who have also won their first three matches.

Marton won the toss and decided to insert the champions, and they were soon on top in front of a healthy crowd at the Parkway. Skipper Alex Wardell opened the bowling and claimed 3-15 from 15 overs, including the prize scalp of Gary Pratt, trapping him in front.

However, more punishment was to follow for the Dalesmen, as man of the match Faizan Hussain bowled a brilliant spell of 6-18 from 13 overs, to reduce the visitors to 78 all out.

The home side then lost Lee Hodgson for just a single, but Liam Coates and Hussain with the bat both made 20 runs each, to see their side home to victory, finishing on 81-5, to firmly stake their claim on this season's title race.

Synners won a low scoring match at Stokesley by just three wickets, and are second in the table. They won the toss and soon had the home side in trouble on 56-5, as Thomas Wing (4-38) and Thomas Harper with an excellent 5-34, bowled them out for just 96 runs.

Joe Marsay with a blistering spell of 5-36, had the visitors in trouble, but a beefy knock of 23 not out from Daniel McGee, including two fours and a six, saw his team home to claim the points.

Saltburn lost for the first time this season, as they were beaten at home by Great Ayton, albeit with a revised target. Rami Singh top scored with a useful 64 and Josh Tribick added 36 in a final total of 163-9, with Douglas Mulholland claiming 3-26 and Martin Philpot 4-35, on the bowling front.

Ayton had a decent start with Jon Grainge hitting 36, while Phillip Holdsworth crashed 45 from 62 balls, which included six fours and a six, in a winning total of 148-5.

Hartlepool drew again, but they were on top for most of the game, as they hosted Barnard Castle at Park Drive. Pools won the toss and decided to bat first, with Harry Crawshaw scoring 60 and Paul Braithwaite 52, as Alan Tebbett hit 30 from 19 balls, to boost their score to 206-9, with Robert West claiming 5-45 with the ball.

Barney had Finn Usher (38) and skipper James Quinn (45) to thank, as they put on 78 runs for the second wicket and claim the draw on 167-8, despite James Lowe returning figures of 3-37.

There were runs galore at Windy Hill Lane, as Middlesbrough travelled to take on Marske. Boro won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. They made a very respectable 230-4, as Tom Hewison top scored with 90 not out, from 83 balls, which included nine fours and a six. Openers Jozef Wing (38) and Johnathon (33), had earlier put on 60 runs for the first wicket.

The visitors then had two half centurions, as Jake Whittle with 54 and Cole Pearce who scored 57 not out, got them up to 204-6, as Johnny Mains put the brakes on with an excellent 6-40, to claim the draw.

Normanby Hall were at home to Thornaby, and won the toss inserting the visitors. Lewis Harper made 44, while Harvey Spaxman top scored with 45, to give them a total of 176-9, with Chris Witherley claiming 3-48 with the ball.

Hall then collapsed to 44-5, as Luke Gettings tore into the top order, claiming 4-26 and then Shahid Mahmood finished off the tail, returning figures of 5-23 in a 66 run win.

Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Division One

Darlington were well beaten, as they make the long trip to Whitby. The home side hit a mammoth score of 234-6, with Alf Jacobs (34), Finlay Morris (69), Kai Morris (44 ) and Theo Clarke (34), their run scorers.

In reply, Darlington collapsed to 110 all out, with Finlay Morris claiming an excellent 5-30 and Joseph Husband 3-10, to force the win by 124 runs.

Dukes ECB North East Premier League

Banks Salver East Group

Burnmoor and Hetton Lyons head the group, after both sides won their first two matches.

The champions Burnmoor travelled to Philadelphia in the big local derby and won by six wickets. Phili were asked to bat first and made 147-7, with Ryan Dowens top scoring with 33 not out, with contributions from skipper Shaun Smith (26) and Shaun Hauxwell (25), as they put on 49 runs for the first wicket, while there were two wickets apiece for Craig Stephenson, Ryan Pringle, and Graeme Bridge.

The champions were solid form the start of their innings, as Allan Worthy (39), Ross Greenwell (49no), putting on 89 runs for the first wicket and guiding their side to victory, on 148-4.

Hetton Lyons hosted Boldon at their Lilywhite Terrace Ground, winning comfortably by eight wickets. The visitors only managed 90 all out, after deciding to bat first, with Karl Turner claiming a match winning 6-11 from his eight overs.

Man of the match Turner then bagged a half century, scoring 50 from 56 balls, which included five fours and two sixes, putting on 87 runs for the first wicket, with opening partner Ben McKinney making 30, in a winning total of 96-2, off just 22 overs.

Banks Salver West Group

Willington won at Sacriston as the home side made a healthy 187 all out, as Solomon Bell with 35 and Ross Whitfield Jnr 34, while Lewis O'Donnell claimed 3-18 with the ball. The visiting opening batsmen put on 82 runs for the first wicket to lay the platform for the win, as Reece Carr made 40 and Adam Khan 64, to seal the win on 193-5.

Crook lost at Burnopfield in a low scoring game by four wickets. Tom Bolan with 4-19 took the bowling plaudits in the visitors total of just 78 all out, but they fought back hard, with Steve Chapman taking 3-15, but a vital score of 26 runs by Jonathan Pears made the difference, in a final score of 79-6.

Durham and North East Cricket League

Frank Lees Cup – Group A

Dawdon journeyed to South Shields in a reduced 28 over a side match and the visitors put them in and they scored 161-8, as opener Luke Elliott smashed 45 runs from 55 deliveries, hitting five fours in the process and also Liam Dixon made a useful contribution of 25 runs from 21 balls.

In reply, Dawdon started well as skipper Steven Gale smashed 61 from 70 deliveries, which included ten fours, but they ended up on 133 all out, thanks to a splendid bowling performance from Alex Thompson who returned figures of 6-25 from six overs, to win the game for his team.

Frank Lees Cup – Group B

Littletown, Brandon and Mainsforth have won all their three opening matches, with table toppers Littletown winning at Tudhoe, by just two wickets.

Tudhoe batted well with William Jewitt (36), James Curry (39), Daniel Thexton (39) and Andrew Carrick (37), all making useful contributions with the bat, in a final total of 190-6, with Bryan Conlon and Matthew Fishburn taking two wickets apiece.

The visitors had a shaky start, but Fishburn with the bat made 42 and David Craig a useful 26, in a match winning partnership of 53 for the fourth wicket, guided their team to victory on 191-8, despite three wickets coming from Daniel Thexton.

Durham City travelled to Easington and lost a close encounter, by just seven runs. The home side posted a score of 161 all out, thanks to opener David Tarn who made 37 and Josh Broom a useful 26 not out, while Nick Howe claimed 3-18 with the ball.

City started poorly as Omar Shahid took 3-25, but the middle order batted well as Gabriel McCall, Nick Howe and Steven Howson all made 20-odd scores, but in the end Faz Hussain, Dane Wilson and Grant Akers, took two wickets each and they were eventually all out for 154.

Brandon are second, after beating Evenwood at home by a massive 126 runs. Gordon Muchall hit a brilliant century, scoring 115 from 100 balls, which included 14 fours and two sixes. He was ably supported by Dean Storey Jnr, who hit 48 runs, as they put on 96 runs for the fourth wicket, in a final total of 252-5, despite Thomas William Teesdale Snr claiming 3-49 with the ball.

Evenwood were never allowed to get going, as they lost early wickets, with just Regan Maughan resisting with 32 runs. On the bowling front, all-rounder Muchall led the way with 3-18 and there were two wickets apiece for Ryan Green and Liam Reid, as the visitors finished on 126 all out.

Mainsforth are third as they beat Hunwick by 42 runs. The home side made 182-2, thanks to Chris Coatsworth who scored 52 not out and Kevin Dixon who added 48 runs, to their total. Although Aaron Proud made an excellent 85 runs at the top of the order, no-one could stay with him, as they were all out for 140, with Ryan Nicholson taking 3-26 and John Cavanagh 2-21.

Esh Winning welcomed Peterlee and racked up an excellent score of 209, which was too much for the visitors, who were all out for just 113 runs.
